Learning on the go
Outings are a gateway to the world outside and are a huge source of learning and confidence building.
The annual excursion for our youth group is a much looked forward to event and involves extensive planning. These trips go a long way in providing perspectives to children on people and places, as also – in great measure – boosts their self-confidence.
Our sponsored children are also taken on local excursions, to see places of historical and cultural importance. The Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum showcases the city’s cultural heritage and history and saw a visit by children from our Rabale project area. The rapt attention on their faces is a reflection of their interest in the subject as also, for some, a connect with what they are studying in their school textbooks.
The youth group on a visit to Bibi ka Maqbara, while on their excursion to Aurangabad in Maharashtra. These excursions give insights into the history of our state/ country and also provide the youth an opportunity to understand other communities.
In the past year, outings ranged from a visit to Aurangabad to Kerala to our very own Vishnudas Bhave auditorium, located close by, to witness a theatre performance by children with special needs from another NGO. The children are always accompanied by staff and volunteers to ensure their safety.
